My name’s Sarah Warren, and I’m a Mum living in a village near Bath. In 2018, I completed an MSc in Sustainability, which transformed my world view.
In 2019 I campaigned for Bath & North East Somerset Council to declare a climate emergency (which it did in March that year), and I was then elected to the council and appointed as the Cabinet Member for Climate Emergency in May. Now, I’m confronted with the very real challenge of converting my theoretical knowledge of the climate and ecological emergencies into real action, through the bureaucracy of local government.
This blog is intended for all readers, and documents some of my experiences on this journey. In my posts, I hope to share some of what I have learned about the way our impact on the planet encompasses all human activity. This has the consequence that any solution to the twin climate and ecological emergencies will likewise need to be all-encompassing.
